When public schools don't have the public interest in mind

The following situations occur in certain institutions throughout the United States. Try and guess what institutions I am referring to?

- Metal detectors are located at entry ways to prevent weapons from entering the building.

- Cameras observe and record what is going on throughout the building at all times.

- Police patrol the grounds.

- Searches and seizures occur randomly and without a warrant.

- Everyone must wear, and/or present when requested, valid identification.

- There are strict rules dictating what can be worn or spoken.

- Someone caught with an object that even resembles a weapon is punished to the same extent they would be if they had a real weapon. The same goes for drugs, even if it is just a breath mint. The punishment is no different than if it were a rock of crack.

If you guessed that this describes our prison system you would be incorrect. They describe the government school system throughout the United States. Of course, not all of these have been implemented in the Prince William County school system, but you can bet it won't be too long before they work their way here.

You might be thinking that these are simply methods used to keep children safe, so why object to such measures? The reason I object to them is that the system, as it is currently designed and functions, is conditioning our kids to become compliant and subservient subjects of the state.

So, are these the only problems with government schools? Not by a long shot. Just a couple of issues I have from a very long list of problems with the government school system:

- Children are used as lab rats in ever-changing teaching methods and theories.

- Children are taught to never question authority.

- Children are not taught critical thinking skills.

- Children are subjected to classes which teach how to have protected sex rather than abstaining from sex.

- Children are regularly subjected to anti free-market rhetoric.

The progressives and collectivists who control the schools want to indoctrinate our children with the same beliefs that have failed other nations for hundreds of years. They promote a belief that there is no difference in cultures - that they are all equal and our children need to consider everything in shades of gray. They believe, and want our children to be of the same mind, that there are no rights and wrongs - only differing opinions.

Your children are being prepared to live in a capitalist economy by a group of individuals who do not believe in competition, and fight with every red cent they have to maintain the government monopoly of a centrally planned school system.

The curriculum in this system regularly teaches children that government is the answer to all the problems in the world rather than the reality that government is the source of most of the problems in the world.

The government school system knowingly and regularly practices censorship regarding the theories of mankind's existence. No, I am not referring to the fact that it refuses to teach Creationism. What I am referring to is the systems' absolute refusal to allow the introduction of scientific FACTS which may refute the theory of Evolutionism.

As a seeker of truth I find it heinous that significant evidence regarding the origin of mans existence is withheld for political purposes. Any scientist worth a grain of salt would be repulsed at the idea of withholding evidence that contradicted an established theory - no matter how much they wanted to believe in that theory.

Our unalienable rights are endowed upon us by The Creator. If there is no God, as our government school system alludes to by the banishment of all references to a Supreme Being, then rights are conveyed at the benevolence of human rulers - and can be removed at their discretion.

Which brings me to my next point. The school system has a model United Nations. The organization this program is modeled after not only has aspirations of world domination but its member countries lack the protections for their citizens that our Constitution affirms.

Member countries of the United Nations not only torture and kill their own citizens, but maintain high level positions in direct opposition to the practices of their own nations. For instance, recently a Libyan representative was installed as the chair of the U.N. Commission on Human Rights and Iran and Iraq recently co-chaired the U.N. Conference on Disarmament.

Are these the kinds of mixed messages you want your children to learn? The government school system should have a model Continental Congress or Constitutional Convention - not a model United Nations.

Every parent who wishes to give their child a fighting chance at learning the difference between right and wrong, or wants their child to absorb enough information to compete and succeed in a tough world, or wants to provide their child a Christian education to do whatever is necessary to home educate their children.

Even if it means moving into a smaller home, tightening the belt some, and existing at a lower standard of living - get your children out of the government system for their own sake and safety. You will also be able to spend more time with them and provide them with the foundation to face anything that comes their way.
